An Unforgettable Senior

-

There are many things we forget about high school soon

after we graduate, such as how to write in MLA format,

and pretty much anything from Geometry. But, there is

one thing that we will never forget, and those are the people

we’ve shared this experience with. Take for example

Leilani Lewis, one of our Senior Students of the Quarter.

While we describe her as unforgettable, she would describe

herself as ambitious, caring, and loyal. Her ideal day starts

with 60 degree weather and a pumpkin spice latte in her hand.

On this beautiful and cool day, she would spend her time

enjoying the outdoors or maybe going to see a good movie.

As a child, no one could accuse her of being unimaginative,

she admits she wanted to be a “doctor lawyer princess teacher

from outer space” when she grew up. Along with a wonderful

sense of humor, she has a danger-seeking side too. She

laughed while telling us a story of sneaking a whole deluxe

chicken sandwich from Chickfila into the theaters and enjoying her

dinner at the movies. Her greatest accomplishment has been,

“growing into the person I am” and she knows she will continue

to progress as a person. Leilani loves the classics such as ABC from Jackson 5, describing them as “legendary” and “iconic” and thanking them for the creation of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson himself. When she wasn’t listening to the Jackson 5, she enjoyed watching The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy as a kid. We know Leilani as someone who stays steadfast in their morals, and always fights for what is right. In the end, Leilani wants to be remembered “As someone who accepted people for who they were and inspired others to be tolerant and loving of diversity.” She also wants to be remembered for her amazing dance skills. Leilani, you danced your way into our hearts and you’ll stay there forever.
