“Dance is the hidden language of the soul” - Martha Graham
Dance concerts have always been performed at San Tan Foothills since 2008, but it’s not always been as mesmerizing as Mrs. White, Dance Director and STFHS’s Pom Line Coach, choreographs them to be. Mrs. White is the brains behind ‘Dancember’, our annual winter dance showcase, which was showcased on the 3rd of December from six to nine P.M.
The Dance Agenda
The Beginning and Intermediate levels of Dance are performing two pieces choreographed by Mrs. White. All the while, Advanced Dance is performing one piece choreographed by White and several different works choreographed by the dancers themselves and performed at different events throughout first semester. The San Tan Heights 8th graders will also perform one number choreographed by White and one created by them. Mrs. White also holds a STUDENT WORKS audition every semester. Furthermore, the performed dances also have a chance to be nominated to be included in the upcoming showcase(s).
The Expert in Anything Was Once a Beginner
The Dance department ranges in grade levels and skill levels. The majority of Dance students have never danced before coming to San Tan Foothills’ Dance class. Therefore, they start learning techniques on Day 1 of class. They start learning the dances right after fall break with the exception of Mrs. White’s Advanced Dance class, who start learning dances for different community events by the second week of the school year. We hope you showed our dancers love during Dancember! Happy Holidays Sabercats!
