Winter Concert

-Joshua Slater

Have you ever dreamed of being whisked away to a winter wonderland? Well, we can’t do that, but we can show you an amazing concert held at our very own San Tan Foothills High School! On December 7th, all of the music classes held here at STFHS came together to showcase what they’ve been practicing. Mr. Slattery has been hard at work teaching students, who are either music veterans or complete beginners, to play as an ensemble. From what anyone who attended could tell you, they really rocked the house!

Choir performed:

  • Viva la Vida (Coldplay, Arr. by Mark Brymer

  • Skyfall (From the 007 film) (Travis J. Weller, Arr. by Paul Langford)

  • Take Me Home (Pentatonix, Arr. by Roger Emeerson)

  • You Raise Me Up (Rolf Lovland & Brendan Graham, Arr. by Mark Hayes)

Guitar performed:

  • Drunken Sailor  (Folk Song, Arr. by Nikolas J. Slattery)

  • Playtime (From Mel Bay’s Guitar Method Book, Ignaz Pleyel)

  • A Solo by Hayden Montierth

  • Canon in G (Arr. by Nikolas Slattery)

  • Christmas Gifts (Arr. by Nikolas Slattery)

  • A Solo by Shawn Clark

Band performed:

  • To A New Beginning (James Swearingen)

  • Midnight Mission (Brian Balmages)

  • Theme From Jurassic Park (John Williams, Arr. by Michael Sweeney)

  • Odyssey (Aric Branchfield)

In summary, the musical side of San Tan was able flourish on the night of December 7th. From playing in a composition to having their very own solo, students were able to show their community their talents. With each piece of music being following by a roaring applause, it was made sure that the audience was appeased with everyone’s musical abilities.
