New Year,

New Freshman

- Camille McKillip

We have completed the first step of the final semester of the school year and people are already talking about next year. The big thing to talk about is making sure every eighth grader who is going to be a Sabercat next year is prepared and registered for high school at San Tan foothills. One of the ways to do that is by holding a Registration Night for all the eighth graders that introduces them into the ways of the Sabercats and makes sure they know what it's really like in high school. This will prepare them for what they need to do to get the right scholarship. There are so many things for them to learn and see here at San Tan Foothills!

Registration Night was in January and there were many different things that happened to make sure the incoming freshman are aware of the activities, classes, sports we have. This night was also for making sure they know all the things that are required to graduate. Having about 40 booths of all the clubs, sports, and other activities set up made it possible for them to get all the information they needed and help them decide if they want to sign up for it next year. The 8th graders received a tour of the school and there was also a presentation/speech given by our principal, Dr. Richards, to welcome the new Freshman to San Tan Foothills. The second presentation was given by the counselors, where Ms. Patberg explained many things from the credits they needed to the classes they’ll take. They even went into depth about the different types of diplomas the students can aim towards. Last but not least, the 8th graders got to see a stunning cheer performance. There was an estimated amount of 100 new Freshman that came to see all the wonderful aspects of San Tan Foothills!

As the school year goes by, there is a lot to be done. One of them being preparing everything we need to make sure every student is good to go for the new year. I had a wonderful time my Freshman year and it's not even over! I am way more comfortable in High School than I expected I’d be. I am happy I was able to write about our next chapter in making San Tan Foothills “A Place For Greatness” and I am really excited to see what everything is going to be like next year. Welcome all incoming 8ths Graders!
