Student of the quarter: Zach Marlin

 

           Your Junior Student of the Quarter, Zach Marlin, is not the type of student to brag about his accomplishment. Most people would describe Zach as humble and quiet, he describes himself as inquisitive, humorous, and understanding. The perfect day for Zach consists of good friends and an excuse to do nothing but relax all day. When it’s not a perfect day, Zach can be seen preparing for FBLA, getting his game on in the Gaming club, and dominating his AP classes. His greatest accomplishment was placing at FBLA State, which gave him the opportunity to “compete and test my skill against people from all over the country.” Zach is definitely not afraid of a challenge.

           Another great accomplishment for Zach is his record of watching an entire season of Daredevil in less than two days. When Zach moved to San Tan from Washington State, the trip down was the experience of a lifetime. His family drove through several states, stopping at Yellowstone for a quick visit. During their visit, they saw a bunch of wild animals and even one of the largest geysers. Zach also told me a story from his childhood where he accompanied his mom to her doctor’s appointment, saw a radiologist performing an x-ray scan on his mother, and was immediately hooked. He decided to become a radiologist, and wield the power of x-rays himself.

           Zach wants to make a scholastic change in the world, similar to Einstein or Newton. Whether his impact on the world is small or large, Zach will be content knowing he made any change at all. We asked Zach why he thought he was chosen as Student of the Quarter, he told us it must be because of his effort in the classroom and willingness to help other students. Zach loves helping others, whether it’s just a simple homework question or help with an entire lesson. He believes that it’s the small things that make a big difference, small actions that make San Tan Foothills a Place for Greatness.

Student of the quarter: Alexa Seguara

Quirky and outgoing are only two words out of a million to describe Alexa Segura. She is an outstanding student making wonderful friends along the way. She has made great accomplishments, one of those being putting herself above others for the first time, not caring what they thought or how they reacted to what she did. She did it for herself and that is greater than any type of award.

Alexa has always had the dream of being a Veterinarian mainly because her love for animals has never dimmed down the older she got, plus she has a nurturing side. Alexa also wants her San Tan family and everyone else to remember her as being inspiring and helpful, a figure they can rely on and come too when they need help lifting their heads. She does not care about materials or money, she only cares about a person’s well being and that you are beautiful no matter who you are. When it comes to music, Alexa has a great selection including the popular band The 1975. She likes their music because they are very laid back and can go from rocking out with an alternative song to mellow and indie, making it easy to vibe with their tunes.

Spending time with your family is a win no matter how you look at it and Alexa had a wonderful road trip with her family going to Disneyland and California Adventure Park. She never understood how so many people can be packed into one park, but of course that was the least of her worries, because California Screamin was at the top of her favorite’s list. Before the line even moved, she was begging to leave already, not waiting for the eventful terror that she would soon be faced with. Her eyes were closed for what felt like forever, but it was really only 15 seconds, usually happens to us all. But of course there is always one ride that makes us never want to leave and for her it was Tower of Terror, it being rode three times more than anything else that day!

We couldn’t have picked anyone better for Student of the Quarter. She is amazing and talented and she will bring light to many more who cross her path. Alexa Segura is a name to remember!
