Students of the Quarter

Sydney Rydzak

Ariella Borquez

This school year, Freshman came in fighting. They proved their strength with their determination to be the best class for the 2016-2017 school year and their hard work has really paid off. One of the students that made this possible was Ariella Borquez. We got to know a little more about her when we asked what her main goals in life are, which are to visit Amsterdam,  have a family, learn two other languages, help others, and remain positive and happy. Ariella’s positivity will definitely help her in achieving her life goals and allow her to do great things! She also went on to say that she is selfless, understanding, and a social butterfly. These are all amazing traits that make up an excelling student.  She gave us a little more insight about herself when she described a personal childhood memory,“My favorite childhood memory is when I was around eight years old and my family and I were decorating Christmas ornaments and we started having a paint war. At the end of the night our stomachs hurt from laughing and we were all covered in blue paint that ruined our clothes.” Getting to know a little more about just some of the prospering students on campus will build unity and spread encouragement all throughout San Tan Foothills.

To wrap up the interview, we asked Ariella why she thought she was chosen as Student of the Quarter and she replied, “I think I was chosen as Student of the Quarter because I have put in a lot of effort in my school work and HOSA Club. This is the hardest I have worked all year and maybe others are noticing my effort as well.” We are definitely noticing Ariella!

Social,  helpful, and patient. These are just three words that Sydney Rydzak uses to describe herself, but there are many qualities to her that made her a perfect choice for Student of the Quarter this semester. Sydney is a very active member around campus, participating in HOSA and just being an overall helpful person has earned her the recognition she deserves. Little Sydney dreamt of being a police officer or a prosecutor because, “I was adamant on putting the “bad guys” in jail forever.” These “bad guys” certainly don’t stand a  chance against Sydney’s strong personality. When she isn’t dreaming  about putting a stop to crime, she is listening to her favorite song, “Toothpaste Kisses” by The Maccabees. She told us the reason why this is her favorite song, “I love this song so much because of its purity and adorable message about two people loving each other out of modesty and simplicity, instead of ‘likes’ on Instagram or whoever texts first.” Other than her favorite song we learned some of the goals she would like to achieve in her life which include raising a happy family, visiting Ireland, and finding complete happiness. We hope you find it Sydney!

In the end, our journalism team got to meet two bright freshman who show that San Tan Foothills truly is “a place greatness.” To leave us with something to hold onto Sydney told us, “I want to be remembered as being a friend for everyone. Each and every one of us needs at least one other person in their lives, even if it’s just for moral support. I want everyone to remember me as the one person anyone could go to in any situation.” Thank you Sydney, for letting San Tan Foothills know freshman are not to be underestimated.
